In recent years, Orbbec has continued expanding its presence in the robotics sector, building a diversified product portfolio based on structured light, stereo vision, and iToF technologies. Its solutions are now deployed in service robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), industrial robots, logistics systems, and emerging humanoid robotics applications.
During the discussions, members of the Japanese delegation expressed strong interest in the rapid development of China’s robotics ecosystem, particularly Shenzhen’s strengths in supply chain integration, engineering efficiency, and rapid product iteration. Both sides also discussed developer communities, robotics platforms, and market opportunities in Japan.
Orbbec noted that Japan remains one of its key overseas markets. In recent years, the company has actively expanded its presence in Japan, with a strategic focus on robotics, smart devices, and education and research applications, while continuously strengthening collaboration with Japanese enterprises and developer communities.
Today, Hitachi Group has adopted Orbbec’s high-precision 3D camera Femto Mega to build autonomous retail stores. In addition, one of Japan’s top three automakers by sales volume has developed and launched a service logistics robot powered by Orbbec’s stereo vision camera Gemini 2 as part of its cross-industry innovation initiatives.
Looking ahead, Orbbec plans to further strengthen collaboration with Japanese developers, robotics companies, and ecosystem partners to accelerate the adoption of AI vision and robotics technologies.
Through this visit, both sides further deepened their mutual understanding of future cooperation opportunities in robotics and AI vision technologies. Kakimi Naohiko expressed strong interest in Orbbec’s technological R&D capabilities and its ongoing initiatives in the robotics sector, while also expressing expectations for future cooperation opportunities in the Japanese market.
