Recently, Orbbec and Tashan Technology, a leading company in the tactile sensor industry, announced a strategic partnership. Focusing on multimodal data collection for physical AI, the two companies will jointly develop a vision-tactile fusion solution for robot-free data collection and real-world applications, providing richer data dimensions for physical AI model training.

The agreement was signed by Kevin Li, General Manager of Scanning and Innovation Business Unit at Orbbec, and Yihui Fu, Vice President of Marketing and Ecosystem at Tashan Technology, and witnessed by Howard Huang, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Orbbec, and Yang Ma, CEO of Tashan Technology.

Orbbec and Tashan Technology form strategic partnership

Tashan Technology focuses on the development of tactile sensors, tactile sensing chips, and algorithm models. Its self-developed tactile sensors enable three-dimensional force sensing, material recognition, and proximity sensing, supporting robotic dexterous manipulation, human-machine interaction, and tactile data collection. Leveraging its full-stack 3D vision technologies and mature manufacturing capabilities, Orbbec aims to build the hardware foundation for physical AI data collection—providing a high-efficiency, high-precision, hardware-customizable, and software-extensible multimodal Robot-Free Data Collection Hardware Platform. This partnership will further advance the collaboration between vision and tactile data collection capabilities.

According to the agreement, the two companies will focus on robot-free data collection and application solutions, with deep collaboration across joint product development, market expansion, product delivery, and customer support. Centered on multimodal data collection applications for physical AI, both parties will establish an end-to-end collaboration framework spanning technology development, product adaptation, and application scenarios. Together, they will develop a vision-tactile fusion solution integrating Orbbec’s robot-free data collection hardware products and Tashan Technology’s TS-ECHO data sensing finger cot, and jointly promote applications across robotics, industrial manufacturing, and other related fields.

Tashan Technology’s CEO Yang Ma said: “Large-scale, high-quality real-world interaction data is fundamental for enabling AI to understand the physical world. Orbbec has established strong capabilities in 3D vision perception technologies, physical AI data collection hardware, and large-scale commercialization. Through this strategic partnership, we will continue exploring more physical AI data collection solutions, helping enhance the generalization capabilities of embodied intelligent robots in real-world environments.”

Orbbec’s CEO Howard Huang said: “As a critical channel for real-world feedback, tactile data provides essential information for robotic dexterous interaction and manipulation capabilities. Tashan Technology has accumulated deep expertise in tactile sensors, tactile sensing chips, and algorithm models. Looking ahead, we aim to strengthen technological collaboration between vision and tactile data collection, and further advance the development of a multimodal data foundation for physical AI.”
