Orbbec Showcases 3D Vision Solutions for Logistics and Industrial Automation at MODEX 2026

Share

Atlanta, Georgia – April 13, 2026 – Orbbec, a leading provider of robotics and 3D vision,  participates in MODEX 2026, one of North America’s largest and most influential supply chain and logistics trade shows. At the event, Orbbec presents its latest 3D vision products and solutions, highlighting real-world applications across warehouse automation and industrial environments.

Enabling Reliable Perception in Complex Industrial Environments

As automation expands across logistics and manufacturing, robots are increasingly required to operate in dynamic environments with variable lighting, irregular objects, and complex backgrounds. These challenges place higher demands on the reliability and accuracy of vision systems.

To address these needs, Orbbec demonstrates a forklift automation solution powered by its latest industrial-grade stereo 3D camera, the Gemini 435Le. The solution is designed to enhance perception capabilities for mobile robots, enabling safer and more efficient operations in real-world scenarios.

Key capabilities of the Gemini 435Le include:

  • Long-range, high-precision depth sensing:
Delivers low-noise, high-density depth data in dynamic environments, supporting stable localization, navigation, and obstacle avoidance. The system can reliably detect forklift forks and ground-level obstacles, improving operational safety.
  • Accurate reconstruction of complex objects:
Maintains precise edge definition even in challenging logistics environments, enabling reliable detection of pallets made of different materials such as plastic, wood, and metal, and improving handling accuracy.
  • Flexible multi-scenario adaptability:
Supports multiple preset depth modes that can be dynamically adjusted for different tasks. From navigation-focused perception to high-precision measurement, the system maintains stable performance even under low-light or complex lighting conditions.

Demonstrating Real-World Applications

At the show, Orbbec is partnering with MobileDemand, a leading provider of rugged tablets and enterprise mobility solutions, to showcase a practical industrial application.

The joint demonstration features xPIM Software, a mobile dimensioning solution designed for logistics and warehouse environments. By combining stereo 3D vision with mobile devices, the system enables fast, contactless measurement of object dimensions—including irregular items, small parcels, flat objects, and pallets.

MobileDemand sought to replace its legacy stereo 3D camera to overcome challenges in demanding environments. Its decision to adopt Orbbec’s Gemini 335L stereo 3D camera marked a significant upgrade in vision technology. The Gemini 335L features an IP65-rated design and is powered by the MX6800 depth engine chip, enabling it to deliver stable, high-quality depth data even under challenging conditions such as reflective surfaces, strong ambient light, and dynamic scenes, allowing accurate recognition of objects and their spatial relationships.

The solution supports a wide range of use cases, including freight measurement, inventory management, and warehouse slotting. It helps logistics operators improve space utilization, reduce manual errors, and increase operational efficiency.

Accelerating Adoption of Robotic Vision

In addition to the joint showcase, multiple robotics companies at MODEX feature solutions integrated with Orbbec 3D cameras. Robotics and AI research firm Tutor Intelligence utilizes Orbbec’s Gemini 336 and 336L cameras in their Cassie smart palletizing robot demonstrations. Intelligent AMR company Quasi Robotics showcases their Model C2 autonomous cart equipped with the Orbbec Gemini 336L camera. Warehouse automation company Cargo Spectre debuts Roll-Thru, a dynamic dimensioning solution powered by Orbbec’s Femto Mega.

Many leading exhibitors feature products equipped with Orbbec cameras

Mike McSweeney, Vice President of Sales at Orbbec, said, “As demand continues to grow in logistics and industrial automation, the market’s need for highly reliable visual perception technology is also increasing. We will continue to optimize product performance and expand our partnership ecosystem, helping more industry customers improve automation capabilities and operational efficiency through more reliable and easier-to-integrate solutions.”
